We meet again, Xanga

It has been a while, hasn't it?

The summer was short and very busy, but I LOVED my time back in Canada.  I got to see so many friends and family and take in some beautiful Canadian sights.  I've been back in Germany for 2 weeks now and I thought that maybe before I started with updates from here, I would recap the summer in pictures.  So here goes:

Spent a lot of time at the Lake... this time, kayaking with Jared

Canada Day long weekend with my very fun cousins

Soaking in the prairies, this time driving home from Grande Prairie

Making cookies for the Mustard Seed with the girls

Counselling at Camp Shekinah

Road tripping through the Canadian Rockies

Re-acquainting with Tim Horton

Visiting the Pacific Ocean off of Vancouver Island

Taking ferry rides

And teasing Josh and Laura's dog

Good times.

It's good to be back!

Well, I'm back in Canada after a long year away and a long trip home! I travelled for almost 30 hours, with one really long layover in Frankfurt. It was all good though, and I ended up on the same flight as the Duecks across the Atlantic, and my seat neighbor left so I got the whole thing to myself. I think I'm over jet-lag and have been having a good time catching up with friends and family. Here's a few pics of 'Back Home':

ODE TO HAIRBALL

Today was dorm cleaning. This is a ritual that is done a few times a year and fills everyone with dread and disgust. I, however, don't mind dorm cleaning that much (other than having to get on people's cases to do a better job!). But this time (I don't know what came over me), I thought maybe I should pick some of the hair out of the carpet that the vaccuum doesn't pick up. Well, this is the doozy I got off the second floor hallway alone! WARNING: These photos may be disturbing to some viewers!

Thanks, Jessica, for being my willing (although more than slightly disgusted) model!

(For my friends back home, I arrive in Canada on Monday!)

Dorm Party!

Monday was a religious holiday in Germany, so there was no school. Instead Palmgarten had their year end dorm party!!! The original plan was to go to the outdoor pool in the afternoon, but it was cold and rainy, but a few brave souls enjoyed having the pool to themselves. Then we piled into vans, walkie-talkies ready, and set off for Freiburg, a city around 50 minutes away. It was my first time really driving in the city! (I shouldn't brag too much, I was on the dorm dad's bumper then whole time) Then we all (32 of us) went out for pizza and pasta at an italian restaurant, and then then whole bunch headed off to the theatre to watch a movie! It was quite the time - we had a lot of fun. Definitely a bittersweet time, knowing that there are less than 2 weeks left of the schoolyear...

An Update

It's crunch time here at BFA - so many things going on and so little time to rest! Adding packing, cleaning, banquets, homework projects, wrap-up parties, and making summer plans to the already busy schedule has staff and students pretty busy (except the ones done with APs!). Personally, I am pretty tired and very ready for a change of pace. Don't want to think too much about saying goodbye, though. Here are a few pictures from the past couple of weeks:

That's all of Palm's grade 11 and 12s at BFA's annual Junior Senior Banquet (Definitely one to look forward to) - the girls looked FABULOUS!

We had a 'big unbirthday bash' for all the people who have their birthdays in the summer - it was a bit wild.

These are some of the girls on a Saturday afternoon - they aren't ALWAYS this peaceful!

Thanks again to all you who support me here - I'm looking forward to catching up to many of you in a few weeks!
